Perfect Places Questions the Reality of What It Means to Live In the Moment

Lorde's recent single 'Perfect Places' finds a home within the party animal in all of us. Well, on a deeper note 'Perfect Places' holds a special place for the individuals who live in the moment. One thing Lorde notes on this track is a question that has been raised from time to time 'Why not?' That simplistic question offers an answer as well. Of all the things young adults endure like relationships, family, friendships, stress, and day to day life, why not? Why not go out and enjoy pure oblivion which could involve dancing, drinking, or other mischievous adventures. What we do register from Lorde's latest track is 'life'. Live for the moment, live in the moment, and there is no such thing as a perfect place.

This new album of Lorde's has not disappointed (with all the releases even though the album has not dropped) but as an audience, we are gifted with an older Lorde. Maturity looks good on Lorde and no one else can say any different. With songs 'Green Light', 'Liability', and now 'Perfect Places' as a non-fan and progressing slowly as a fan, I can appreciate the growth Lorde is bringing to the table. There is a lot of reflection since Pure Heroine's release.

The aspect sticking out most is the relatability with 'Perfect Places'. Some call is an existential crisis or the mid-twenties quarter crisis which might be true, however, as the world changes and points of view gain a wider audience why not life live the way one should be able too. No more hiding in plain sight or working until the early morning hours. I'm not trying to bring YOLO back but, there is an intended right for an individual to live life to the fullest capacity that person is capable of doing. So, what it comes down to is living for the moment, death comes and takes away the one's we cherish but should we stop before life has begun? 'Perfect Places' is more of an introspective track where Lorde can offer her own views and question about what is going on in her own mind.
