You've heard Lorde's newest release? Which means Lorde is coming out with a brand new album after what seems like years? Yes, the dark horse songwriter has officially come back full circle, grown up and through a few trials that have affected her life. Green Light comes off of a break up the songwriter went through not too long ago which deeply planted a sort of revenge fantasy within Lorde.
The music video easily portrays Lorde gaining back the shattered pieces of an intimate relationship. Even Lorde's hair has been cut which can represent a new stage in a young woman's life (typically the cutting of one's hair can signify an emotional change). It's no shock when understanding what Lorde is singing, the lyrics are plain as day. However, plain they are, Lorde plays the barrier between anger and growth. Admitting she'll see these individual everywhere she goes, even stating letting go may not be an option. However, this is the hardest part of growing apart, turning into an adult. As Lorde finds strength in the mysterious obstacles life has to offer, we too witness a new individual within Lorde.
As a Pop track, Green Light tracks an electronic explosion of synth, drums, loops, and backing vocals echoing as a choir. Honestly, Lorde had a lot to live up to from the first album, but from Green Light as the first single for Lorde's sophomore record indicts a pure revelation.
We may be nowhere close to indicating the entire second albums true nature but this transformation gives the audience a decent clue.
Green Light is the action of going forward, only Lorde found a way to issue out the rumors of truth and what those rumors can damage or even influence a relationship. Nevertheless, Green Light adds to the bright light when it comes to turning into an adult.
