Buzzcut Season Was The Beginning For Lorde's Newest Album

As Lorde's newest single 'Green Light' and 'Liability' hit the radio airwaves, it only seems natural to revisit Lorde's first album. With that intention 'Buzzcut Season' has struck a chord, unlike the first time. For some reason, maybe with the latest releases, one can see where Lorde was evolving towards. 'Buzzcut Season' seems to be the bridge linking between the two albums.

Dissecting 'Buzzcut Season' depicts a relationship yet a friendship as well in categories. The beginning, the progression, somewhere in the middle and finally what will happen in the end? While Lorde is questioning the existence or long lasting resistance involved with a fling/relationship it would be with 'Green Light' the overcoming emotions about the afterward. The sheer brilliance of this song and Lorde's newest shows exactly what the singer-songwriter has experienced in life. Lorde essentially is allowing her own life to become an open book with a few excerpts revolving around metaphors.

'Buzzcut Season' shows how one can become emersed in another. Wrapped up in a lover's world that exists only between two individuals no matter the circumstances. "There will never be enough of us," that lyric says it all. When has anyone ever lived in a world where this line hasn't been uttered in one way or another.

What makes one believe that this song is about a fling and possibly in the summer is because of the word usage "season". Then paired with "buzzcut" were traditionally individuals cut their hair for the Summer season. However, it would be in the Summer were a lover's fling is most prominent, being that curfews are absent until the Fall and staying away on holiday seem endless. Nevertheless, Lorde has been a moving force of nature since "Pure Heroine" arrival. Only this time around Lorde has grown up more, showcasing what overcoming the break off of a relationship is only a part of the experience.
