I want to start this by writing space on the British band Coldplay, formed in London in 1996 by vocalist Chris Martin, bassist Guy Berryman, guitarist Jon Buckland and drummer Will Champion.
At the beginning of his career, his musical style was defined as the dark sound of alternative rock, especially noticeable in their first singles. However, with the passage of time, they evolved to a soft rock style, better known as rock gently musical style that is distinguished from other types of rock by the use of distortions few saturated guitars, melodies easily assimilable and letters uncontroversial -. At the end one can say that the music of this band was described as meditative, romantic and reflects emotions.
In 2000 the band publishes "Parachutes," his first album. The disc obtains a remarkable success in Europe but was not as marked in the United States. Their first single was the song "Shiver" followed by "Yellow" that came to be at number four in the UK charts.
Yellow, as described by vocalist Chris Martin in an interview, is the hallmark of the band and means "shine, hope and devotion." The singer said the song "speaks specifically about devotion and goes to a unrequited love."
Composed and recorded in one night, his verses, his rhythm and emotion that contains the letter are the elements that make it one of the most popular songs of the British band.
Brian Hiatt of Rolling Stone called it "a song to race." Martin Roach, author of Coldplay: Nobody Said it was easy, said in the same that "although Shiver was his debut, Yellow was the song that changed everything and an example of what has made Coldplay so popular."
