Coldplay Adventure Of A Lifetime

On November 6th, 2015 Coldplay released a new single entitled “Adventure of a Lifetime”.

“Adventure of a Lifetime” could be the beginning of Coldplay embracing an entirely new sound. This is song is straight up funky. A running, groovy bass line is the force that drives this song all the way through. The track begins with a sampled, electronic rhythm that sounds like an intro to a dubstep song. This is intertwined with an exotic guitar riff that surprisingly fits very well and adds to the overall allure of the track. This track sounds vastly different from their characteristic alternative, softer sound. The only way you can tell it’s Coldplay only because of lead singer Chris Martin's voice as he sings:

“Turn your magic on, to me she'd say Everything you want's a dream away. We are legends, every day. That's what she told him”

This was a bold release from these Brit-rockers. A complete change of sound is not always what loyal fans want to hear, but I’m happy to say I think it was a wise choice. I think this song will appeal to a more mainstream, pop minded demographic and does it without selling out and staying true to their beloved roots.
