Yes, Little Mix seems to be a mix of a lil everything. When I first heard them, they sounded cute, acted cute, and sang in a cuteness style. A few of their songs on their Get Weird album gave us all the elements of a teenage lifestyle and the many school-time adventures that go along with it. Now, as I said, only “a few” of their songs gave those teeny-time elements. As for a few other songs, they give us a more mature side to the group. It’s a side that is more upfront and out there. Their current song “Secret Love Song” is an example of this style.
I’m not really one that likes girl/boy bands or teeny bands but I will on occasion give their songs a listen. I usually cringe and just let it pass on to the younger gen. What I do like about these young bands is when they mature as individuals and it obviously shows in their musical style. What comes out of it is a young boy or girl, who started singing at a young age and, if he or she continues to rise as a star, develops their style of singing and becomes the utmost talented person in the industry. Rarely, does it happen as a group. This also goes for many adult bands. Little Mix seems to show potential in succeeding as a group and with a full force of individual talents.
I like Little Mix’s song “Secret Love Song” for its theme and style. Featuring Jason Derulo on this track, adds to the musical talent fused on this musical presentation. It’s a struggle of hidden affection and sharing of each other’s feelings. The affectionate display is allowed within their own privacy but their frustration is deciding or trying to make it all real and public. It’s hard enough to go through a serious relationship but more so when it has to be hidden. Love is definitely not meant to be hidden especially if truly felt every day. In this case, for both of them, secrecy is safe, secure, and promising.
All of this can be felt as each member and Jason Derulo performs their piece on the song. Every member of the group definitely has a wonderful voice and they project that talent through their own individual style. I am amazed by the power they present and the vocal talent they each have. With their variety in style, the blend provides a song that sings sadness, frustration, affection, and love.
