The Superbowl Halftime Show 2016

From afar, the Levi Stadium was a spectacle of pastel fantasy madness with three of the most anticipated artists of this time.

When I saw the line-up for this Superbowl, I was quite shocked that Coldplay was included and would join Byonce and Bruno Mars. I always perceived their music to be utterly soft and relaxing- the way you just close your eyes listening to their tracks because of the feels. The appearance of Beyonce and Bruno Mars, given their versatility in music genres was not new to me because they can pump the energies of the audiences and drown them in their music.

All around the stage at stadium’s center, there were valiant colors: blue, orange, red. In the crowd, fans held up yellow cards that fashioned a sunburst. A multitude of people were there watching Superbowl 50 and who would want to miss the most-awaited half-time show performed by the world’s greatest artists?

Coldplay was the first to open the show.Chris Martin, the vocalist was singing “Viva la Vida” which made the crown sing-along with them. They wore gray, blue, brown, black. Visually, it made them the negative at the center of a sea of cheerfulness. Nevertheless, they still captured the fans’ hearts. They continued their part with their song “Paradise.” It’s amazing to see all those floral umbrellas open and dance along with the music brought by Coldplay. Violinists and cellists from Youth Orchestra L.A. were dressed in matching baby-blue-and-red Windbreakers, clutching instruments painted green and blue and purple and white. They perfomed along side with the artists with smiles on their faces and the sparks in their eyes.

Beyoncé, who returned to the halftime show three years performed her new song, “Formation.” She also announced a new world tour during the performance. Beyoncé was brave to sing a song with such powerful pronouncements of black self-importance on a stage that preferred neutrality or, at the loudest, pure devotion. . She sang, “I like my baby hair with baby hair and Afro/I like my Negro nose with Jackson 5 nostrils.”Both she and Bruno Mars woreblack outfits draped in gold. She did a few dances and Mars too, danced with his MC Hammer-esque moves.

It’s a sight to behold, seeing your favourite artists collaborate and sing together in one single stageThree distinct-sounding artists helping each other out to entertain the crowd with all their best assets and talents.
