The organic return of a revamped Sidestepper

Before Bomba Estereo or ChocQuibTown already existed Sidestepper, the group of electro cumbia led by British DJ and producer Richard Blair in 1996, who as was recruiting Colombian musicians, gave way to an as compact as edgy sound project. He spent more than a decade since we heard of them.

Blair Sidestepper rearmed from his home in La Candelaria in Bogota, he took it in stride and left all the beats, loops and electronic signals to be delivered to the organic. And presents Supernatural Love (Real World, 2016), a compendium twelve tracks which also dare to sing. "I felt it was the perfect time to get back to basics" producer, founder of Sidestepper two decades ago is concerned. "The global club culture has become totally mainstream, it became boring hearing the same kick, snare and hit hat. I wanted to do something new, see if it was possible to make a solo album with drums and traditional instrumentation with flutes".

Guitarrita virtuoso Ernesto "Teto" Ocampo, percussionist Juan Carlos 'Chongo' Puello, singer Edgardo 'Guajiro' Garces and the magical voice of Erika 'Eka' Muñoz, make the sound assembly of this work.

There is a call from the African roots percussive, drum reflects exemplary stories carried by Erika in songs like "La Flor and voice" also in its second part a discipline Teto increases the dose of groove. In fact much of the disk is carried away by an attachment to blues, the feeling of the guitar with which ancient musical roots are identified.

Supernatural Love is not as festive as the early work of Sidestepper, in fact it is a sustained return, relaxed, in which sometimes amazes and disappoints. It is a very insightful look over all the vast Latin American culture that has understood since his arrival in Colombia English.

It is the risk assumed a character like Blair who more than show some talent, decided to use his instinct and through their musical taste, was enlivening a musical turn from its own pace of life without ambition or pretension, rather with tranquility that years of experience have led him to absorb what interests and motivates.
