Sidestepper's Theatrical Jungle

Richard Blair recently reassembled Sidestepper from his home in La Candelaria in Bogota. He took it easy and abandoned all the beats , loops and electronic signals to indulge in the organic. So last year presented the album Supernatural Love (Real World, 2016), a compendium of twelve tracks where also dares to sing.

The virtuoso guitarist Ernesto ' ' OcampoTeto , the percussionist Juan Carlos ' ' Puello,Chongo the singer Edgardo ' ' GarcésGuajiro and the magic voice of Erika ' MuñozEka' , make the sound ensemble of this work.

There is a percussive call from African roots, the drum reflects blunt stories. In fact, much of the album is carried away by an attachment to the blues, to the feeling of the guitar with which ancestral musical roots are identified.

Supernatural Love is not as festive as Sidestepper's early work , in fact it's a sustained, laid back return. It is the look of an Englishman very insightful about all the vast Latin American culture that he has understood since arriving in Colombia.

Submerged in this context, Sidesteppe has just released the video for the theme "Magangué ", a piece full of theatricality made with love. Some lipsync parrots initiate the visual transit from which the Colombian tribal is rescued, in addition to the jungle approach and the colorful use of the images.

That same tranquility and security with which Sidestepper returned gives him artistic confidence to make a sober, elegant video with a remarkable folk essence that Richard Blair has been able to conceptualize during the more than two decades that the project has been walking.
