London Grammar are a very frustrating band for me. Their brand of epic dream-pop is absolutely stunning in small doses but ask me to listen to an entire album and I'll get about half way through and turn it off. It's not that they are samey, or that I get tired of them, it's that their lush songs are a lot to take as a single work. It makes me wonder, do you have a band or an artist like that? Someone that you like and respect but, for some reason can't take the final plunge of super-fandom?
London Grammar the band that best fits into this category for me. I've written lots about my love of particular songs, and Non Believer is another fantastic example of their obvious talent for big, epic works of emotion. The video that accompanies it is similarly stunning and perfectly complements, and even encapsulates their style visually. If I could just have a collection of these kinds of videos set to their music then I would love them unconditionally.
It’s an interesting question though. What band or artist can't quite hook you in, and why? Do have a particular way of listening to them that works better than anything traditional?
