Maggie Rogers Turns Us On + Off Again

Song reviewed by:

Maggie Rogers continues to pop up and continues to release music videos that may have left a few individuals scratching their heads. Nevertheless, Rogers compels as well as enchants the viewer in On + Off. Now that Rogers EP Now That The Light Is Fading is about to hit. Roger's is showing confidence with each track released just in time for the Spring season to bloom. As a young emerging artist, Rogers conveys a new type of songwriter... one that is fearless. Of course, the songwriting is personal, and Rogers has a voice of silk made from only the best kind of ribbon but this is not the epitaph definition.

With the track On + Off with the accompanying music video blows expectation out of the water. Maybe Rogers videos are a bit hard to interrupt yet this is a great quality. This means each video has been unpredictable giving Rogers an entire arena of ideas. Whether this means to work within or outside the box shows clearly how Rogers has challenged the "outside of the box" option.

Laced throughout Rogers release of music videos we sense a simplistic nature to each one; slowly gravitating to a possible legacy that this songwriter may leave.

On + Off easily brushes off the possible turn on and offs of any one person. Whether we face escaping mentally or towards a relationship, Rogers picks up the pieces to illustrate what we feel. Sonically On + Off throws in a sweet repetitive synth piano mixed in with a sultry loop of echoed "ah's and oh's".

Each single release from Maggie Rogers has been pristine. Advanced, quality over quantity, even better is the fact Rogers doesn't hide what she likes or thinks about. The personal revelations were given throughout each lyric ringing a truth.

On + Off is another example as to why Maggie Rogers needs to be on everyone's radar.
