Facing Frailties and Realities in June

To look back on life as it was in June 2015 is like thinking about it out loud, particularly so as I am not doing it just for myself this time but writing about it and making it available for others to read, hear.

Speaking of thinking about things and doing it outside the privacy of ones' thoughts, Ed Sheeran's hit song Thinking Out Loud continued to dominate the world's musical playlist even in June 2015 but more so in UK as it remained in the UK Top 40 for a year by this time. We can't seem to get over with the thought about all that love is and what we hope it to be so which we hear about in this song. It makes many of us wish, I think, that our loved ones will also think out loud of their love for us, and do something about that love, too, beyond just thoughts and words, hopefully. After all, June in many parts of the world is filled with stories of people sealing their love before God and men. We can not NOT talk about love this month then and Sheeran, thanks to his song, adds a voice to it.

I also can not help but notice that June 2015 was also the month when the world was hit with the news that millions have literally been exposed to hacking which is linked to that Asian force called China. Now, doesn't that mean that even your personal thoughts as well as strictly for company or department memos, documents and files had now crossed into being "thought and spoken out loud" beyond your preferred audience? Personal, company and even government secrets had made their way to the public. How unfortunate that we have to also continually face the frailty of systems, of people.

This was also the month when we were given a Hollywood treat of knowing, understanding ourselves and others better by way of the animated film Inside Out. The movie reminds us the reality of all emotions and how we deal with them. Like the love that Sheeran tells us about in his song, all emotions are valid. We need not unleash them without self-control though, but they must be recognized as true -- as a true part of you and me. And they need to be spoken and thought out loud at the right place and time, too.

In the end, I look back now at the month of June as the month of recognizing and speaking about what is real and true like what Sheeran's hit and the movie, Inside Out talks about. It was also the month of facing the reality of frailty, of menace in our world, as that Chinese hacking incident would remind us.

The month of June had its way of bringing to our attention the realities and frailties of life. It pressed us towards awareness of what we are really standing for and fighting for "right where we are".
