As the daughter of Quincy Jones, she’s mainly known as an actress, but she does sing too. So, how come you didn’t know that about Rashida Jones? Well, probably because she’s the daughter of Quincy Jones and she only does good things. She makes good choices and makes sure that the music she puts out, continues the family’s legacy.
But even though music may not be her main focus, she has provided vocals for a really cool track by Boss Selection. The song is called “Flip and Rewind” and literally rewinds you to the soulish R&B of the nineties.
And if the song doesn’t do it for you, the video will!
I’ve recently been watching a lot of documentaries about various R&B artists from this era. I’d heard a lot of music in those days, but never knew much about the artists themselves, because most were never featured in mainstream media. After a while, I started to notice that all the bits and pieces of music videos started to look alike. There really was a trend in music videos in those days.
The video really takes you back to that: The clothes, the moves, the hair, the way the videos were filmed. And I’m not even missing the 90s, like Rashida is in the video, but I could right after seeing this.
I could, potentially, try to keep writing about this, but basically it’s a nice song. Not something that will be a classic, but just something to reminisce to. So, go on and see if you can spot the influences Rashida has incorporated in this video.
