Who knew Fall Out Boy would last this long in the Indie game? By starting out as a Pop Punk band throwing caution to the wind and starting a semi-revolution with guy-liner, Fall Out Boy have released a new song... and it's full of synth visiting Pop/Hip-Hop influence. While growing up with Fall Out Boy as a permanent backdrop to virtual any teenage act... Young and Menace actually uses a lyrical line "And we were never meant to make it half this far". Is the band questioning their own career reality? One would suspect this to be the truth.
Young and Menace as a whole track plays well with the lyrical content and synth-infused backbeat. However, there are parts of the synth Pop weaved beat does not correlate well with the layered instruments which Fall Out Boy usually use. Now the band is trying to stick to the newest Indie revolution that involves dance rhythms and even Patrick Stump has reassociated his vocals to compliment this new style. A slight breathless appeal. However, the vinyl scratching is a great adage if Fall Out Boy is not careful they could lose their signature sound.
Young and Menace tries to combine various genres into one track. Feeling overloaded, confused and hysterical... however, with a title such as Young and Menace with a varied combo could work out. Whether Fall Out Boy intends to transcend their own genre that influenced many bands, Fall Out Boy once again could show the way towards a new future.
The track will be favorite or a skip everytime kind of song. This is a fact and should not be stated otherwise. So bands find their foot opening the door even further and others a left with crushed toes and egos. But will Fall Out Boy stand away from the pack? This newest album Mania will surely foretell the future or a long packed musical career for Fall Out Boy.
