S.H.C. Shocks Us With A New Foster The People

Song reviewed by:

The third studio album from Foster The People is picking up steam. So far III EP and the third studio album "III" are massively different from their previous work. Pumped Up Kicks may be a thing of the past because of new track single S.H.C. single-handly offers 180 glimpses into the band's new direction.

S.H.C. is every bit fun, wild and even ironic. The track opens with a serious of tones and dials sound straight out of the 80's. Even the entire track has this happy go lucky 1970's-80's drive. The reason could be because of the sudden interest in nostalgic (many thanks to Stranger Things) and a variety of ways music use to hold several layers starting in the late 70's.

As far as the chorus is concerned there is an upbeat upswing, but the beat does seem to overtake the track more so than being lyrically stimulating. Whether Foster The People decided to experiment in the studio, S.H.C. would be a great end product of that experimentation. However, that goes unsaid that the lyrics did take a backseat but usually this happens when the majority of the focus is on layering production.

S.H.C. is only one of three songs released on an EP from Foster The People's newest album, which will effectively be released in either June or July.  Foster The People, have many tricks tucked away and the right amount of gusto to polish a song to be picked up as an instantly likable track. Whether S.H.C. will receive radio wave rotation depends because the track was released so recently it may take a few people to come around and enjoy the new sound. Although this could be the album to bring back Foster The People into the limelight and playing on every major radio station across the U.S.
