Maggie Rogers is no child, in fact, Rogers has a wild old soul nature about her. With releases "Alaska", "Dog Years", and "On + Off" within the last six months, the songwriter has found a calling. When the viral video of Pharrell Williams critiquing Rogers soon to be released track "Alaska" from NYC's Masterclass. However, when it actually came to any criticism Pharrell was more blown away by a new artist that clearly had something all her own and crafted a lifetime of music out of the mere 22 years Rogers has been alive. From that point, Rogers has climbed to a top status of originality that will more than likely follow throughout the rest of Rogers career.
While the banjo was Rogers main choice of a musical instrument while growing up on the East Coast, it would be the incredulous recordings of nature, the slapping of hands against denim and thunderstorms that would implement the desired sound. After traveling to France and experiencing the dance music being produced over there, Rogers combined a love for French dance with her own reality.
The more Rogers reveals about the life which has been led so far, the more Rogers was meant to be this songwriter who would appear to challenge the ever running current of popular music. For instance "Alaska" has a clear dance approach although lyrically the song is about evolving into a future representation of one's own self.
Rogers has said that "Now That The Light Is Fading" which was released in February 2017 is about a transition in a person's life. "Now That The Light Is Fading" is in a way a love letter to Rogers self about how growing up and circumstances influence our decisions.
Even though Rogers has released only one EP so far, the expectation is high for the next. However, we feel that Rogers will have no problem handling the sophomore transition except with pure bliss.
