Like "Basically", "Nevermind the End" showcases Brooklyn-via-Argentina singer-songwriter Tei Shi's fluid vocals and insightful lyricism. This track is, however, a better embodiment of Tei Shi's self-described genre of 'mermaid music', and fits perfectly with her first EP's title (Saudade) which refers to "a feeling of longing, melancholy, or nostalgia that is supposedly characteristic of the Portuguese or Brazilian temperament".
Backed by jaunty guitars, Tei Shi sings about desire, vulnerability and intimacy - of a particularly fleeting variety ('But there is something right with you/ Nevermind the end'). As Pitchfork's Minna Zhou notes in her review of Verde (2015), her music "radiates a quiet self-possession, someone conscious of her desires and unafraid of vulnerability" in its exploration of the complex contours of the human heart:
'I feel the morning coming over. But if you stay you can leave with me.I'll tell you everything I know.Nowhere left to be.
Rain is falling in the corner.Above the boys and the moonlit mask.Just be a shoulder for my head. All I ever ask.'

There's an elegant and profound (and sensual) sadness here, in the way Tei Shi's siren-like vocals console and soothe the listener with the promise of escapist romantic encounter ('Take me away from here/ Somewhere we can just disappear/ I'll be your morning light/ If you wanna be my ride tonight') that will inevitably leave things hanging.
