Sweet Nostaglia

Whether it be a film, tv show or a sudden appearance of a long forgotten memory while shopping at the grocery store...The Temper Trap's song 'Sweet Disposition' has a profound impact on the individuals listening in. More time's than I'd like to admit 'Sweet Disposition' has appeared almost as if a magician was hiding behind every corner I've walked pass. The even greater thing is the fact that I don't have any one select moment where this band...out of nowhere meant something dear to me. Maybe it was that one summer...years ago that completely invaded the privacy of a teenage girl's bedroom. Flooding the headphones with this pleasantly broken affectionate type of music. But then again The Temper Trap have that affect on many of their listeners.

This would be a classic example of a "guilty pleasure" song although...this song is nowhere nearly as embarrassing as some others floating around on everyone's iPod. It is more so embarrassing because of the emotion this track can inflict and pull out from a single individual. Now music that powerful certainly deserves a moment to be acknowledged and even loved a little.

With the soaring chorus, a cosmic orchestra effect that literally cascades further and further from the present and allows any living thing to daydream for the length of the song. All by simply becoming the background music for all our fantasties, daydreams and ideas that keep us up at night...wishing for them to come true or change. Now that is powerful all on its own.
