Heavy Synth, Let's Watch Porches

Song reviewed by:

As stated in the title, a heavy synth intro is all apart of the band Porches song Be Apart. While taken from their new album 'Pool' due out Feb, 5th of this year. There is no lack of beautiufully lit rooms in their new music video for Be Apart.

Best of all is the opening sequence that shows a door blanketed in a red light. As the camera pans around this two story elegant home, various band members are stationed through out either looking bored or statuesque chess pieces. A sense of mindless activity seems to drive the video further to the point that the narrator is saying they want to be separated from...well everything. Life, a person, their home or town they grew up in. Somehow the synth used in the intro masks the ending into an even more grim appreciation of what Porches has crafted.

Be Apart likens to the pages of Catcher in the Rye but in a musicial adaptation. Apart from sense, physical and mental daily tasks given that the last couple of seconds of the song makes us feel as if the inevitable is near and approaching quickly.
