The Drowners have become a household New York band that have increasingly built a catalog of songs playing on relationships, ill at eased attempts at rejection and becoming a better live band each time they go out for a gig.
So what has been floating around the web and via word of mouth? That the Drowners have new music steadily on the way even to the point that in October during a New York gig, the band played five new tracks that showed just how hard this band works. By placing a heavier approach and an even more gritty apprehension within their lyrics. Nevertheless it sounds as if the band has not lost their Indie appeal...yet this new direction sounds more like a harsh slap in the face by reality...ultimately looks promising. Maybe because on their last tour the Drowners where covering songs from The Gun Club to the The Clash. Adding in a dash of punk appreicated wisdom that clearly left a lingering mark.
Drowners have been known for their latest record 'Luv, Hold Me Down' which shot the guys into a lengthy tour, playing the seediest and yet cramped rooms imaginable. Without letting any pre-fame dampening their serious take on being a rock/indie band...the shows progressively became more hetic, worthy of a few bruised knuckles and a need to re-experience the show.
In the now ever ready world of social media, Instagram holds all the right stops if one wishes to catch a glimpse of the Drowners. Effectly the band updates on any new music, shows or any other misgiving that may allow them to get into trouble. As of a week ago the last bit of vocals had been tracked and if these new songs are anywhere along the same train as the video below...saying that we are in a for a treat would be an all to easy word to use. We are however in for a more Post-Punk advantage that many will happily accept.
