First off, this album is incredibly appropriately named. Dopamine by definition is the neurotransmitter that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers. The qualities of music on this album really do create a sense of ecstasy and euphoria. The huge vocal and synth build ups on the radio single “Electric Love” trigger this involuntary response deep within you.
The most intriguing part of is trying to classify the genre. DopamineBØRNS creates an atmosphere somewhere between 60’s pop and modern psychedelic indie. I would say this album exists in the same world as bands like Tame Impala or Mac DeMarco. BØRNS music is heavily vocal driven, using substantial effects to create a very spacey and ambiguous sound. I like this because it reinforces that he is a singer songwriter with a one of a kind style.
I would recommend to music lovers of all kinds. BØRNS comes out of the gate strong with his first major release and I am genuinely am excited to see where his career takes him next.Dopamine
