Chivalry Perspective on Perfect Lover

Chivalry, last of the crooners and true stylists.
"Capturing Romantic and Sensual Moments in Time," Chivalry skillfully defines his musical genre as "Smooth R&B," a harmonious blend of urban and traditional R&B soul enriched with a velvety jazz infusion. Recognized as a true R&B stylist, his music paints a canvas of romantic allure and soulful finesse.
I am, The Original "Chivalry." Online since 1997. Born and raised in Detroit. MI. 1961. I grew up in Detroit during the "Motown Era." I don't think you could not be into music at that time! I was singing in a group at 5, taught myself to play the drums at 11 and played in a band until I was around 18. From there I wanted to write my own music and over the years taught myself to play keyboards so that I could write songs. Music is simply a part of me. I don't do it for fame or fortune. I'm just compelled to write music. The internet allows me to share it with anyone who just happens to feel it.

I've always hoped that my music amplifies an appreciation of feelings of love.

Having grown up in Detroit during the Motown Era, and with many of the original Motown family members right there in the neiborhood, "originality," is what impressed me the most of that era of music. When you heard a song on the radio you knew who it was.

I couldn't stop writing music any more than I could stop breathing and still exist. I'm compelled to write music. I never know what I'm going to write and typically if you asked me to go back and play an instrument part after I've written a song, then I'd have to listen to it and learn it. I've never played anything I didn't write. I'm not a musician.

My most memorable response was for "Perfect Lover." The ledgendary song plugger, Charlie Ray, reached out to me because he was crazy about this song! :) We became friends and kept in contact right up until his untimely death in a car accident, enroute, doing what he loved, promoting music.

Singing "Downtown" with a tv commercial and "It Hurts So Bad" on the radio. This was the early 60's.
