Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I am Yolanda Villeza an Artist and I sing, rap, and dance. I am non-binary, mixed race, and sweet.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

I am gay and I grew up in the church who claims that same-sex attraction is wrong. I have always had a curious itch as to how music art and busines works since I was 5, bc I was made to believe that it was not for kids. So the hunger to find out what it's all about has been with me and will be with me as long as there are haters out there, that will get me far! But also the ones who love me will be well hidden in my heart.

I went to media & entertainment school in 2004-2006 and learned how to record and start my freelance business.

About three years ago my former church went ham on me and the LGBTQIA+ community. They went strong on how what they call "homosexuality" is wrong, we're going straight to hell, and how they're righteous and we're hellish. They even prey on their own.

My mind was in what Rihanna calls "Disturbia". I had to get out and figure this sh*t out... I feel like a monster.

So finally God helped me write this song, produce, engineer, sing, and publish this song.

I hope it resonates with others, relatable, and they listen to it help heal their internal mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds, and possibly their financial and phsycial well-being.

I was almost physically abused, but mentally I was so it caused me to come out. I didn't want to, but it's funny straight people do not want u to pretend u r straight bc u r not. Especially when they sold me on the fact that "homosexuality" is hell. Nobody wants to go there. So I'm forced to come out.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My earliest memory to listening to music was when I was 4 or 5 and my parents, especially my mom, would listen to music while they cooked and cleaned. I remember one song especially "I Wanna Sex U Up". I forgot what group it's sung by, but our neighbor-friends were listening to it while I was over there and I loved the song I memorized the chorus, and went home and sung it to my mom. She was schocked and distrubed that I was singing and that song. So they tried to keep me from being in the music room, but all it did was birth a singer, rapper, and dancer.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

When I saw Usher singing on his music video premiere on MTV his song "U Make Me Wanna". When I first saw him it was like he gave me permission to be me, so that's when my journey of freedom, courage, and artistry began.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

It played into R&B and Pop. I can not remember exactly which music platform told me that they thought it was Pop, but they listed it under Pop, and I listed it under R&B.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?

I prefer females. Not because I am a female but I "duet" better with females ;) .

But I love YouTube because you can actually put a whole song on Facebook that way and your followers or friends can click on it and view and listen to your video.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I practice everyday in the mornings for at least one hour now that I work at Guitar Center the hours have been cut back tremendously. I use to practice for over 8 hours a day. practicing my artistry and music creation. I now practice thruout the day when I can sing. I go to work usually around 1pm, 2pm, or 3pm. So I practice in the mornings from 8am-9am artistry and 9am-10am music creation and then thruout the day I sing when I can. Especially in the car on the way to work and back.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

When I actually write my own lyrics. I wrote the entire words to IF I HAD A GIRL LIKE U and the chorus to IT AIN'T WRONG. I remember the lyrics way more because it has meaning to me and it is how I feel versus writing a song concept for ChatGPT3.5. No offense to ChatGPT3.5. I just find it more memorable when I write my own songs.
