Coitus Int are a legendary Dutch post-punk/garage rock/noise rock band, who started out back in the 1980s. Their albums tended to mix post-punk and noise rock elements with albums like their self-titled album from 1981 leaning more towards post-punk/new wave, while their latter albums like ''Sex For The Wealthy'' and ''Rules For Making Love And Babies'' leaning more towards garage rock and noise-rock. The album under view here however is their 1985 album ''Sex For The Wealthy''.
The album starts off with a track titled ''Don't Mess With Bill'' and it packs some repetitive post-punk motion with some interesting sax bits thrown into the mix, making for some rather interesting feedback laden experimental material. The second track ''Under My Skin'' packs some more rather repetitive noisy post-punk material, while the following track ''The Habit Stayed'' puts forth some marvellous post-punk meets noisy garage rock material with the sax bits working wonders as well. This most likely makes it the best track on the album. The fourth track ''The Cold Fish'' again rolls around in the repetitive post-punk realm, with tracks like ''In Jutland'' and ''You Will Not Swear In This House''' following a similar pattern. ''Its Springtime, Baby'' on the other hand is a track that tends to differ a bit from this general direction, and sounds more like uncanny lo-fi garage rock to my ear.
All in all ''Sex For The Wealthy'' is a pretty interesting 1980s noise-rock/garage rock infused post-punk/new wave album, and one of the best Coitus Int albums for that matter. Some of the tracks on this album really kick ass, with only their 1991 album ''Rules For Making Love and Babies'' surpassing the material on this album.
