Under the name Bedouine hides girl born in Aleppo. Her parents moved to United States after winning green card lottery. Migration is in her blood, her music and in her pseudonym. In Savanna, Anziv Korkein (that is real name) finished her art studies, and after numerous migrations find her place in Los Angeles, the city of angels. That must because she is also an angel. Bedouine was praised for her self-titled album and she was presented as one of the country and folk hopes to look out for. She chose the name Bedouine due to her nomadic life, but also because of her music journey as her eponymous debut represents a time travel to the 50s and 60s.

Bedouine’s sound is on a trace of Emmylou Harris and Rhiannon Giddens. Profuse and easy folk resembles the glorious days of the genre. In combination with seventies country and modern twist, it comes off as mellifluous amalgam of bossa nova and world music. Sophistication and determination showcase the wholesomeness of the concept and artist's ability to appear as candid. Life on perpetual move and experience of living in diverse cultures sublimed in a record that emerges as authentic, seductive and pleasant. Bedouine has a typical soft vocal that is never intrusive and smoothly takes the through sonic landscapes. Balance is the key factor of this album's successful execution.

Opening track Nice and Quiet describes Bedouine debut in the most suitable manner. It slowly introduces us to the country vibe of the 50s and 60s, before giving the lead to funkt One Of These Days that makes you mirthful and relaxed at the same time. Military Daughter is the most intimate autobiographical song here and it shows the singer about her restless personality and yearning need for solitude and creation. You Kill Me is closure with all the wrong people, while closing number Skyline is a throwback to naive juvenile years when all perspectives are blurry.

Bedouine is one of the most comfortable folk releases of 2017. Beautiful melodies, simple arrangements, nostalgic lyrics and gorgeous vocal. This is a top-notch musician, but only her subsequent releases will be able to cement her high-quality status.
