The Amazingis a Swedish Indie progressive rock band consisting of Reine Fiske, Crhistoffer Gunrup, Anna Jarvinen, Fredrik Swahn, Alexis Benson, and Moussa Federa.
The band describes their music by the following quote from their website/facebook page:
"The Amazinginhabits an aural landscape that's all it's own: A panoramic, constatnly evolving spectable marked by layers of intertwining guitars, richly textured keyboards, and a rhythm section adept at skewed tempos and a tendency to veer off in unexpected directions." It would take a shelf full of thesauruses to describe the Swedish quintet's music, but one word that keeps reocurring is psychedelic, a characterization that Christoffer Gunrup, the bands singer, songwriter, and guitarist dislike. "I hate the word ne says, "I have no relation so psychedelic music or prog rock. Reine Fiske, one of the band's three guitar players, likes that prog stuff and he's very good with sounds, so he would be the one to blame for that".
Last year's release of Picture You, (video released in February of 2016, with the album being released in July of 2016.) has traditional instrumentation, lush vocals, and a very progressive rock groove, despite Gunrup's claim that their music is not in the prog genre at all. The video is shot in a 1960's style grainy, black and white montage-very urban, and retro in feel.
Gunrup does not like to describe his music, or talk about it, but rather he would just like to play music instead.
"I have no idea how to describe the songs on any of my recores. I like them all equally. If you theorize about th songs, it ruins the tension and passion." We play because we are friends, it's all aabout playing music and hanging out, recording songs, and getting songs into this thing we do...that we never speak about."
