When I first heard Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” (that was around the time I was 15 years old) it changed the way I listened to music forever. Its subtle, creepy psychedelic melody, sang over a trippy Spanish march, connected so many brain synapses in my teenage head that, from that experience on, I always sought to hear those depths in a song. Simply said, the song holds a special place in my heart. That’s why I freaked out when I read the video title “Pink Performs ‘White Rabbit’.” I never liked Pink - I always thought that her songs were cheap and sleazy. To be honest, I have never paid attention to her music, so I can’t really be an authority in this case. However, I never imagined that she even knew who Jefferson Airplane were. And there’s where I was wrong. Not only that Pink “knows” them - she absolutely did justice to Grace Slick's profound vocals on "White Rabbit.” Up on the stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show, Pink showcased her abilities as a singer especially her wide vocal range. On top of all, she looks really cool, even gracious behind the mic, updating this classic by Jefferson Airplane and bringing this fantastic song to the attention of the younger audiences. Hats off to Pink!
