P!nk is quite the firestarter

Earlier this year, it was announced that P!NK would be recording for Disney´s Alice Through The Looking Glass movie. Along with the announcement a video was released showing P!nk recording some vocals in a way you had never heard her sing before. It was a cover of "White Rabbit", originally by Jefferson Airplane, and it made you wonder what was to come. But it was all a great marketing thing.

Now, the song “Just Like Fire” has been released and it is typically P!nk. It’s rebellious rock pop. Clearly Disney is not the sweet Disney I always knew from when I was a kid, and P!nk hasn’t really softened either. Yeah! ‘Cos I kinda like her the way she is.

The song itself is catchy and easily sticks in your head. I would say it’s commercial, radio friendly and not at all as quirky as I expect the movie to be.  “Just Like Fire” is also co-written by Max Martin, which in itself raises the bar of any track. He’s the master of retakes and cuts and pastes until perfection has been reached. And it shows. Or rather, you can hear it. ;-)

So far, P!nk has been keeping herself busy with theme tunes (for Ellen) and now a movie soundtrack, which is a first for her. There have been many rumors about an upcoming album. Even to the point that I’ve heard some song titles floating around, but I’m still not really seeing any signs of it coming any time soon.

But, I love this song enough to tie me over until then though. There’s nothing like a fire started by P!nk. Have a listen.
