Fall Out Boy is one of my favorite modern rock bands. Their big comeback in 2013 with their album "Save Rock and Roll" is my favorite album from them. I was not expecting them to make a new album within 2 years, but I never really doubted their capabilities. Last year, they released American Beauty/American Psycho which consists eleven new songs to rock out to. One of their latest singles, Irresistible, has two versions but not really different from each other. The first released version opens with explosions of brass instruments. The horn-driven intro will pump every pulse in your body and engage you in losing yourself in the music. I like how it is true to the original sound of Fall Out Boy, heavy instruments as a background and Stumps’ ranging voice. Pete said the song was a reference to Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious and his infamous lover Nancy Spungen. To me, it was just another song about deadly love. The band also released the second version just months later after the first version, this time, it’s collaboration with Demi Lovato. It has an accompanied music video that is a tribute to N’Sync’s “It’s Gonna Be Me”. It also features cameos from former members Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. Demi brought a fiery new edge to the song as she powerfully harmonizes the chorus and second verse. This version has the same killing vibe but it is hard for the remake track to resonate with the typical Fall Out Boy style. And I feel like Demi’s voice is a little bit disjointed from the band’s typical tune. But overall I enjoyed both versions.
