The Janitors

The Janitors are a great Swedish psychedelic noise rock band, who are the masters in producing some fine noise rock influenced distortion and fuzz-laden psychedelic rock. Their latest EP Evil Doings Of An Evil Kind came out back in 2014, and essentially blew me away with its noise rock influenced repetitive psych rock structures. One would just have to listen to a track titled Here They Come or Greed to understand just how great these Swedes can be. Their latest EP is however only one part of their impressive discography, which is consistently great from basically start to finish.

What charachterizes The Janitors is the mixture of heavily distorted psych or psychedelic noise rock guitar sounds, together with a repetitive monotonous bassline and drums that propel the psychedelic ascent. This fine mixture is completed by some truly fitting vocals. What is distinct about The Janitors is perhaps their evolvement from the slightly mellower and typical psych rock of Drone Head and First Sight Of Delirium, to the heavier and more noise rock influenced EPs. Either way they remain as one of the more fascinating and unique psych rock bands currently out there.

All in all The Janitors manage to have a krautish aspect of psych, together with the noise-rock enduced fuzzy heavyness, while also more than often sounding dirty. Perhaps similarly to garage rock bands like Singapore Sling. All of this makes The Janitors an interesting listen and most of their songs end up being extremely catchy as well. In a psychedelic noise rock kind of sense. One would just have to listen to Do It Again to understand again what I am saying. Check them out.
