The Janitors - Horn Ur Marken

The Swedish psychedelic rock band The Janitors will release a new album via the renowned Cardinal Fuzz in the coming days. The album comes 3 years after their last prior release, and tends to move in the very same stoner, noise rock and drone infused psychedelic rock realm as their previous releases.

The album starts off with a track titled 'Trojan Ghost', and it essentially packs some heavy repetitive and fuzzy psychedelic rock with an eerie yet catchy vibe from start to finish. The track could almost work like a heavy psych version of Brainbombs (the more psychotic compatriots of The Janitors) with its repetitive pattern and psyched out murderous vibe. 'Trojan Ghost' is followed by the title track ''Horn Ur Marken'', which slowly lurks out of the shadows with a vibe similar to some of the material from the Danish band Get Your Gun. This of course means some more fuzzed and noisy psychedelia with a dark atmosphere, with the ending of the track especially standing out with its addictively catchy forward propelling drum and bass section, as well as a psyched out solo. To be fair then almost the same thing can be said about 'Neon Times' as well, with the track packing some no-nonsense heavy psych and a pretty fitting vocals section as well. There is also a pretty distinct Eastern vibe to it in the second half of the track. Something that finds continuation in 'Blizzard'. A track that reminds me Sonic Prayer from Earthless to a certain degree in its first half. Whatever the case may be, the track definitely kicks ass. The following''Into The Woods' on the other hand starts off in a slower manner with somewhat of an Americana feel to it perhaps. This brief parallel is moments later quenched into some fuzzy psych heavyness though, while the same pattern of dark meandering yet mellow psychedelia interrupted by noisy psych heavyness continous thoughout the track. The same kind of noisy psych meets meandering darkened psych also comes forth in the penultimate ''Fear Of All'', while the album comes to a close with 'Alarmatica' - a track that puts forth some fine repetitive psych motion and some fine echoing psyched out guitars to bring the album to a fine conclusion.

All in all it seems The Janitors have spent the 3 years inbetween new albums preparing for a pretty mighty release. The album is solid from start to finish, and doesn't seem to have any particular downsides to it, as it packs some memorable darkened and eerie stoner/noise rock infused heavy psych from start to finish.
