A flower shares his scent much longer after it`s breathing stage. There is no end, only a different meaning.

After a while, crossing over a hard path of my life, I`m back, opening big with this 7th exclusive interview and this amazing new R`n`B breed, extremelly promissing hot female vocal and certainly one of the biggest starts of the future music is my honnored guest, so withouth further ado, welcome Mai Lee...

C: "Hey girl, welcome to cosy cooking sessions, the “Kitchen Confessions #7”, hope you will enjoy answering my interests and curiosity and will sparkle a bit more light to the dearest fans out here as well as all over the globe. So from what I had a chance to find in internet readings, your short bio is pretty impressive so far…. Early educational beginnings, great taste of music basis as well as your super-talent of course have brought you through some mesmerizing career doors. Tell me something other that the known facts from your early start as an artist."

        M: "

As a child, my brother and sister influenced me on the music I listened to. Not only was it just R&B & Hip Hop, but I also listened to Phil Collins, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and George Michael. I had a variety of music to listen to and then created my own sound. Both of my parents are singers and were in their own Vietnamese band. My family played a big part in my music career.

- I knew I wanted to create music and be different. I never fit in. I always got bullied.  Once the kids heard me sing, they all became my friends. So, on that note, I continued to sing!".

C: "And not so long did you have to wait to endure in a partner bond so strong like when you met Bradd Young. Producing for the stars like Lil Wayne, Kelly Rowland, Yo Gotti just to name a few, it must have been such a profound strike to your inspirational goals?"

M: "Without my brother and his great relationships, I wouldn't have met Bradd Young. My brother asked his friend Topher (Nelly’s close friend) if he knew of anyone who can help me with my music career. Topher introduced me to a woman named Blu Bolden who was working at Derrty ENT. at the time. Blu introduced me to a producer named Bradd Young. Sad to say, when I met him, he did NOT want to work with me. It took me months to meet up with him or to hear from him. When we finally met up and I sang for him, it was history in the making! Working with Bradd Young is like working with PRINCE. He is a machine. Engineer, producer, singer, rapper, director, musician, etc. His creativity is out of this world and I am truly honored to be working with him and his brother Vega HBK, on my EP. Both of them bring so much to the table. We are truly a force and I believe we are creating our own lane in the music industry."

C: "After that, did and what have changed in Mai Lee regarding the musical approach and angle of view?"

M: "I went through artist development for years. It took me awhile to find my own lane and be comfortable with myself. I had to go through real life experiences and grow as a woman. With help from Bradd, we found our lane and knew what music we wanted to create. The music we make is carefree and emotional. We bring everything back to the 90’s because that's when I fell in love with music. For my EP, I want my listeners to fall in love with the music I fell in love with. I’m giving nothing less then what and who I’ve learned from. (Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Brian McKnight, Sade, Faith Evans, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, etc.)".

C: "It says that you were “born in a hardworking musical family”, so I asume you strongly support and promote that kind of fight, but do you think that too much of a schooled knowledge can disrupt your unique creative mind and passion imprints? Is Art everything around you or a playground of rules to play by?"

        M: "

I don’t think that disrupted my unique creative mind. My parents taught me that you can get through anything in life if you put 100% into it. They escaped the Vietnam War and immigrated to the United States. If that isn’t a dream, I don’t know what is. This is how I am able to do 10 things at once with conviction. I learned it from them. Even though I grew up working at our family restaurant, went to school, had after school activities, I still managed to follow my passion. It was hard but not as hard as my parents immigrating to the United States and surviving. Anything is possible. You just have to have faith and believe.

- Art is everything around me. You can turn anything into art. If you are creative, you will find a way to create. It’s our way of living and getting our thoughts out there for the world to see."

C: "Two hit singles “Nobody 1993” and my personal anthem “Low Key” have reached a super-peak and made your voice really stand out. How did the inspiration for both came and how long did it took for them to arise as a fully functional projects?"

M: "Nobody 1993 and Low Key were written from personal experiences of my own. Each song explains a time in my life that I was going through and with the help of Bradd Young and Vega HBK, we were able to make amazing hits. Nobody 1993 is one of my favorite songs because we incorporated the 90’s feel. This song is about love and how you can’t see yourself with anyone else but him. I released Nobody 1993 to see how well the fans would react. It was a success but not as great as Low Key. Low Key was written and recorded so fast. It only took me 2 takes and the song was completed. I let a DJ in St. Louis named DJ Cuddy listen to the unfinished version of Low Key. He instantly loved it and told me to finish the track. I finished the track and the song was playing on Hot 104.1 the day after. Talk about a miracle. I am a true believer in good timing and faith. Low Key is definitely my come out song as a true artist."

C: "Who would you like to work with in the future, producer and singer/rapper both?"

M: "I would love to work with Brandy, Drake, The Dream, Timberland, Rodney Jerkins, Justin Bieber, Diplo and more."

C: "Can we reveal a few additional personal details about Mai like favorite book, inspirational boost jam, favorite meal and beverage, favorite place to chill out with your dearest ones and favorite artist, male and female?"

M: "I love eating Asian, Jamaican and Soul food. I love orange, grape and strawberry soda. I enjoy spending time with my family at my parents house. Some of my favorite artists are Brandy, Bradd Young, Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Donnell Jones, Drake, Rihanna, Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey and more."

C: "Album on a close horizon or not?"

M: "I am working on an EP as of right now. I don’t know how many songs will be on it just yet. But, know that I’m working on it and will give the viewers something that they’ve been waiting on for a long time."

C: "Best part of the day?"

M: "Waking up is the best part of the day. To know that you woke up and can conquer your dreams is the best feeling in the world."

C: "The R`n`Bass Era suits you so fine. How you feel about this fast Hip Hop sub-genre evolution?"

M: "Well since R' n 'Bass is a hybrid genre of R&B, Pop and Hip Hop blended into one, I don't mind being categorized in that way. I think it just shows how the culture is being pushed forward and erasing boundaries!"

C: " Anything you would like to change in the past or add to the current self-version?"

M: "I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for my past experiences. I have made mistakes and am a better me because of it. I am a believer in growth. As far as my current self; I want to enjoy my journey while pursuing my dream. I’m normally so focused that I lose myself. This time around,  I want to have fun and work hard."

C: "The last, but not last, put out your heart in this final answer to give your best message to the intoxicating fans all over the globe…"

M: "Always be yourself! There is a lane for everything you do. Don't try to blend in, try to stand out. It's never to late to get up and fulfill your dreams as long as you stay connected to God."

C: "Ok, sadly we`ve reached the end of this short exclusive journey, and again I want to thank you for your time doing this for the “Kurrent” and especially agreeing to exchange a few thoughts with me, I am a big fan of your art and wish you nothing but giant success on all life fields, especially on the ones you nourish the most. Salute!"

M: "Thank you so much for reaching out to me! This is so awesome! I truly want people to understand me and to fall in love with my music. You can’t connect with the music if you can’t connect with the artist. I try my best to explain my story as much as I can so people can relate to me."

Hope you enjoyed in another star confession session, stick out for more and do share it with your people if you find it suited. Until next time...
