With each new year that comes, whether we intend to or not we usually have this anticipation for good things to happen within this fresh year. Simply put, almost always we get in step into the first day of the year with a good measure of hope.
What we hope for could be as specific and personal (find a better paying job this year), geared for your loved ones and family (everyone will stay healthy this year) and something beyond the walls of our room or our home (no bombing to take place in our city, no major war in the world as we know it). Matisyahu's One Day reminds us of all the good things we would like to happen in our corner of the world and if possible, in all corners of the world.

While the song was released in 2008, this anthem of hope from Matisyahu could easily be considered a timeless piece. A desire, a hope for peace is one that we would like to hold on to year after year. This song also took special relelvance for the Philippines, for Asia when Asia's Got Talent grand winner El Gamma Penumbra performed a shadow dance with it during the show's semi-finals.
Matisyahu's powerful song also makes me hope that he comes up with more songs like it, one with a postive tune and beat. And if it is not too much, that other musicians, singers, performers also perform and belt out tunes that somehow warm the heart and urge us forward to a much better world. I believe many of us hope for that one day, too.
