Brett Castro explores a deeply personal break-up in the lyrics, which give the verses a highly personal touch that culminate in a catchy chorus that offers a perspective on heartbreak that isn't often written about: "I kept on hearing so many breakup songs about 'moving on' or 'screw you' or being 'better off,' but that's just not how I was feeling," Castro explains. "I was so dependant on her, and I really fucked it up. So this song came out of those feelings."
