While I was listening to Ariana Grande’s album “Truly yours” I discovered the song “Almost is never enough” in which she is cooperating with Nathan Sykes. And when I first heard his voice I was thinking like “Who is this guy?”. The next thing I know I’m listening to the first songs that appeared which are “Over and over again” and “Famous”. I liked them so I bought the whole album. The album is really great just like he is and it’s a mix from pop and R&B.
The first song is called “Good things come to those who wait”. This song has a much highlighted beat and a really good melody which makes the song easily remembered. There are four singles from this album which are “Kiss me quick”, “Give it up” which are upbeat songs, then “Over and over again” and “Famous” which are slower songs. In the song “Give it up” Nathan is cooperating with the rapper G-Eazy while in “Over and over again” he is cooperating with Ariana Grande, even though the official video on YouTube is a version where he’s singing alone. “Money” and “Freedom” are very energetic songs and I love them because they just make you dance. “I can’t be mad” is a beautiful slow song and it’s followed just by the melody of a piano. “There’s only one of you” is a pop tune which is followed just by a guitar at the beginning, but then the drums are joining in and there are a lot of back vocals. “More than you’ll ever know” is also one of my favorites. Other likeable song from this album are “I’ll remember you”, “Tears in the rain”, “Burn me down” etc.
I knew that Nathan is a really great singer from the first time that I heard him and listening to this album just proved my theory right and I’m really glad that I found him. He is not just a singer, he is also a songwriter and record producer. The album is nice package in its own way. Each song has a unique beauty and Nathan brings it perfectly.
The song “Famous” was written by Nathan, Harmony Samuels, Major Johnson Finley and Carmen Reece and was inspired by someone very important to Nathan. He explained that when the band (The wanted) told him that they want to take a break they suddenly stopped talking to him. That got him thinking does he have to be famous for them to care as much as he cares for them.
