Finally, the rumors are getting stronger and stronger that Bruno Mars will be releasing new music this year. He's had such a strong run in the music scene since 2009 and I feel he's let a lot of time pass for new music to be released to us.
The music business is so much about momentum. As an artist – upcoming as well as established - you always have to be ready to go. Some artists are well prepared and do always tend to have a lot of material lying around, but sometimes demand just keeps meeting supply and you really are working on the go.
Either way, when you have your break, everyone knows that's the time to fully exploit your moment. And people in the business get a bit nervous when there's a gap in between releases. They want to keep releasing new music that's up to par, because you have to keep it moving. After all, your time could end tomorrow. Only a few get to that stage, that it doesn't matter what they do as an artists, 'cos they'll always have a huge audience who buys.
Bruno Mars, luckily, has been responsible for one of THE biggest hits from the year 2015. OK, officially it was Mark Ronson's "UpTown Funk", featuring Bruno Mars, but let's face it, it wouldn't have been the same without him. His own last big hit was "Treasure", which was released in 2013.
You really can't say that he's been holidaying in the last few years. Bruno has been out on the road touring and this is the first opportunity he's gotten to start working on a new album. Rumor has it, that the album was close to finished, but his part in Coldplay's Superbowl Halftime performance caused a delay.
Bruno Mars is a true entertainer, who's been on stage from a very young age. A few years ago, I actually discovered that I once taped a snippet of a performance of his as a child. You could tell, immediately, it was Bruno Mars, even though he was performing under his real name at the time and he was only 4. The show was the Arsenio Hall Show and Bruno Mars performed there as the youngest Elvis Presley impersonator ever. And he was impressive, even back then.
Bruno Mars has always had a connection with the past. A lot of his music has a retro feel and he has maintained a retro look throughout his career so far. It´s safe to assume, it will still be part of the new album. It just goes to show you can learn a thing or two watching the masters, like Elvis Presley, because Bruno Mars has a big career of his own now and I am one of the many eagerly awaiting the music to come.
