There’s just something about her voice that brings me to be caught within a trance-like consciousness. Her style of changing between soft and sweet to energetic and aggressive makes me subconsciously feel the message as I listen. Her music is enough to describe the sensual connection I have with the one I am intimately involved with. Christina Perri always sets the mood that is both “in love”, dreamy and romantic.
It all started with, of course, the Twilight Saga. Don’t worry, I won’t go into details about the movie but instead I want to talk about the song, “A Thousand Years”. I mean, how else can you tell a person you are in love with them or that they are the “one” other than telling them “I have waited for you”? May I point out, this is no simple wait of 10 or 30 minutes or even weeks or months. This is for a thousand years! This song became so dearly loved by me and my lady that it always sparks that “special feeling” when we hear it, where ever we may be.
Her next hit, in my opinion, was her song, “The Words” of her Head or Heart album. I didn’t even reach the end of the song yet to know I loved it. At first, I was watching the video and I thought it was hinting something of a more saddening story. It had almost seemed as if a man was going through loneliness because he lost the one he had loved. It was also as if he was somewhat living a life of seclusion. More so, it had him tending to many flowers and keeping himself busy with around-the-house chores. I didn’t know what to expect! I was waiting possibly for flashback scenes and maybe him breaking down.
The music video reached its end, as it had a more cute and flirty twist, in a non-sleazy way. The story unveils its reason for the man’s lonely torment as it reveals his struggle of the beginning of a possible romantic and lovely relationship. The man’s personal obstacle is simply all about finally mustering all the courage within himself, realizing the meaning of his feelings and emotions, and finally getting those first words out to even talk to the person he loves.
Here’s Christina Perri’s song, “The Words”:
