The self-titled Danish band started their careers a few years back in 2012, where they became the most sought after live act in Denmark. Do they sound like a solo artist? Some may have mistaken it but they come in four. Lukas Graham Forchhammer, Mark Falgren, Magnus Laarson and Kasper Daugaard, trace their grassroots in Christiania, a small town from Copenhagen, Denmark, where majority of them came from.From Denmark, Lukas Graham took their soulful pop music and invaded rest of Europe since they co-signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2013.
They conquered their homeland Denmark and took Europe by storm, so what’s next for this unique Lukas Graham? You got it right, the world. The world is beginning to notice how good this band really is by their single “7 years”. The song, which was released last September 18 of 2015, is a track from their second studio album Lukas Graham (Blue Album). The attention was fast collected by the band as “7 years” debuted at 96 in the Billboard Hot 100. And a week later, they cruised to 57th on the said chart as of February 13, 2016.
Once we were seven years old, of course nobody got to eight without passing seven. Going straight forward, the band just did a great job fitting their life story in just four minutes, imagine that! What’s more interesting is the life and soul added to the song. Upon listening to it, the voice doesn’t come from any part of the body except the heart. Plus, the vocalist, Luke Graham’s voice is just soothing and so addictive. It starts calm and cool at first, and as the latter parts are coming, you can feel the strong emotions circling around its lyrics, as if they really mean everything. Not to forget the black and white music video which is probably the most preferable theme in a life story, a round of applause!
The song speaks about the life, how they grew in their respective places. From the dark innocence and curiosity at young age, financial instability and longing for affection at the latter ages, the theme and soulful meaning added a definite life to the song.
I repeat, to fit a life story in just four minutes is extraordinary, but doing it with full of soul and life, that’s masterpiece.
