When I hear the name Ellie Goulding, the image that usually pops into my mind are different colored lights diverging together, probably because of herelectronic dance tune “Lights” which I thought was ultra-catchy.Other times I tend to associate it with the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Shehas also been subject around issues concerning One Direction’s Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran. Her name is in lights now. Some hearing her name would certainly associate her to the movie 50 shades of grey. But who is the REAL Ellie Goulding? Elena Jane Goulding, commonly known as Ellie Goulding was born December 30, 1986 in Lyonshall, a small town near Hereford. She was the second of four children from Arthur and Tracey Goulding who divorced when she was five years old.At a young age, that happening did not hinder Ellie to be like other kids who ruins their own lives, instead she molded her talent. Ellie began to write music and learn how to play guitar at the age of 14. She was also a theatre enthusiast, which lead her to take three courses in the University of Kent:drama, politics and English. Well, she has realized that all of her courses taken could help her someday. Taadaa! That someday became a day worth remembering as she debuted with her album “Lights” which landed at number one on the U.K. Albums chart upon its March 2010 release. Furthermore, "Lights" was also re-released in November 2010 with sic fresh tracks added. The album was renamed “Bright Lights", it included a cover of "Your Song" by Elton John, which became her highest charting single to date, ranking at number two. This streak of her popularity and awards was temporarily put to a stop when she was nominated for Best British Female and Best British Breakthrough Act at the 2011 BRIT Awards but sadly, she did not bring home the bacon for that time.
After that, she and her team were busy preparing for her to break the U.S market. The title track from "Lights" was released as a single, she performed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in April 2011 and on "Saturday Night Live" the month after. "Lights" was also re-released in the American version and was successful. Ellie’s team couldn’t have done it any better. "Halcyon" was her second album which was re-released as “Halcyon Days” in the U.S. All of her albums became up-and-coming not only in U.K but also in U.S. She has also overwhelmed movie-watchers by her songs in films such as “Kick-Ass,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “Breaking Dawn,” and “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
