Pop star Taylor Swift burst into tears on Monday during final arguments in the civil suit accusing a radio DJ of fiddling with her before a concert in 2013.
The singer turned away from the audience to dry her eyes while Gabriel McFarland, the defendant's attorney, David Mueller, asked if his client would have any reason to fiddle with the star.
"I do not know what kind of person grabs or fucks a music superstar, but he's not that man," McFarland said in federal court in Denver.
She also insisted the singer was wrong to state that Mueller had reached under her skirt and "grabbed her bare buttocks" during a match before Swift's concert at Denver's Pepsi Center on June 2, 2013.
The mother of the singer, Andrea Swift, was seen with tears in her eyes at the trial, while she handkerchiefs to her daughter.
Swift claims that Mueller grabbed his buttocks during a pre-concert photo shoot. His manager complained to the DJ's radio station at the time and he was fired.
Mueller filed a $ 3 million lawsuit against Swift for loss of income, arguing that his charges led to his dismissal, while the pop star sued him for sexual assault.
District Judge William Martinez dismissed the case on Friday, claiming there was no evidence that Mueller was entitled to compensation for damages by Swift.
Martinez reported, however, that it was possible that a jury could compensate Mueller for damages due to the intervention of Swift's staff in his work on the Kygo station.
The jury of six women and two men must decide whether Swift's mother and radio coordinator Frank Bell are responsible for damages by pushing the radio station to fire him.
If the jury decides in favor of Mueller, the compensation will be limited to the amount owed to him for the remaining 18 months of his two-year contract.
Also pending is Taylor Swift's claim alleging that Mueller's actions constituted sexual assault. She is looking for a symbolic dollar as a damage repair.
