A musical celebration of Caracas would be incomplete without the participation of the great Aldemaro Romero.
A native of Valencia (Carabobo), he actually did and developed his musical career in Caracas. And to the city dedicated beautiful songs to him, like "Caracas Cuatricentenaria", with a letter full of mischief and very good note.
And is that the New Wave, that rhythm of criollo jazz so emblematic, is nothing more than one of the fundamental contributions to the Venezuelan musical heritage, and Caracas, in particular. "De Repente", "Carretera", "El Catire", among other works are nothing more than the expression of the caraqueness, a key to contemporary harmonies and a wonderful rhythm, combining the traditional with the urban. In fact, today it is not possible to understand the Caracas urban movement without the Onda Nueva by Aldemaro Romero.
But without a doubt, one of her milestones and contributions, or gifts, to the beautiful Caracas was that wonderful album titled "Dinner in Caracas", 1955, the first LP of Romero. They are not compositions dedicated exclusively to the capital, however, the arrangements made, the stylization of traditional music (for the time), enhanced and helped to wrap with this magic sonority the urban ideal Caracas for the time. There were pieces such as "Alma llanera", "Luna de Maracaibo", "Endrina", "Conticinio", "La reina", "Adiós a Ocumare", "Shadow in the dunes", "Serenata" , "Fúlgida luna", "Kisses in my dreams" and "Barlovento".
Aldemaro Romero would have liked a lot to have been reunited with the Caracas of the 450 years, as well as was present in the one of the Cuatricentenario.
