Caracas pop music of the seventies had several exponents, but without doubt, if there was someone who stood out in those years was the musician Frank Quintero; To whom we usually attribute successes to the eighties. Nevertheless, already in the previous decade, and even at the end of the 60, already had a way walked. Above all, and especially, in what we would later know as urban music.
So that in 74, after having walked with Aldemaro Romero and his Onda Nueva (we'll talk about him) and the band La Fe Perdida, Quintero formed a group known as Frank Quintero and Los Balzehaguaos. Before proceeding, it should be noted that this word was one of the most emblematic urban expressions of the 60s and 70s, and was used by the chamos of the time to emphasize disdain, annoyance, the type "are you going to continue with that?" Or "ah then" or "leaves the pod", more or less come to be the meanings.
In Caracas of the 70s, Los Balzehaguaos had the talents of Willie Croes (piano and synthesizers), José "Patúo" Velásquez (bass), Lorenzo Barriendos (bass) and the great Carlos "Nené" Quintero (percussion); In addition to Frank, and from there emerged themes as emblematic as caraqueñísimos: "Lady of the city", "Support me", "Things we sometimes feel", "Stairs of your mind", "Everything will happen", "Spell ", among other.
It was deeply urban music, describing in its own way the Caracas of the time, with psychedelic tones, full of illusions and dreams to fulfill. Later came Frank Quintero of "Química" and "Baila conmigo", also very urban, but already quite impregnated with the tendencies of the eighties and boomed by the boom that also benefited other Venezuelan musicians.
It is worth taking into account this urban sonority of Frank Quintero, within the framework of the 450 years of Caracas.
