Vives will be inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame

Colombian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives will enter the Hall of Fame of Latin Composers from next October in conjunction with the gala of the awards Musa 2017, which will also receive the award Icon.

"This honor has taken me by surprise, and I did not think in my wildest dreams that I would receive this recognition," says Carlos Vives in comments included in an official statement that the Hall of Fame of the Latin Composers (LSHOF) ) Published this Wednesday.

The author of "The Cold Drop" and "The Bicycle" with Shakira, among other hits, said he was very grateful to LSHOF and indicated that he will celebrate with the people who inspire him every day: his fans.

The date for this double recognition to Carlos Vives, who throughout his career has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, is October 19 and the venue, the James L. Knight Center in Miami, reported LSHOF .

"Carlos Vives is one of the global giants of Latin music, not only because he is a visionary and an unquestionably influential musical creator, but because as an artist he is an unparalleled icon of all time," said Desmond Child and Rudy Perez, director and president Of LHSOF, respectively.

The Hall of Fame statement states that in his more than two decades of career Carlos Vives has won two Grammy Awards and 11 Latin Grammy Awards, has been nominated 23 times for those awards and has several gold and platinum albums.

He was the first Colombian artist who obtained a gramophone of the Academy of the Recording.

In addition to Vives, the Spanish Camilo Sesto will enter the Hall of Fame on October 19, Mexicans Ana Gabriel, Fher Olvera and Martín Urieta, Panamanian Erika Ender and Argentine Roberto Livi.

To be able to belong to this institution it is necessary to take at least 20 years in the world of music, counting from the first published work.
