Following the tragic news of the suicide of Chris Cornell, vocalist and leader of the iconic grunge band Soundgarden and Audioslave on May 17 at a hotel in Detroit, when he was found dead after hanging himself a day after performing a concert. The 90's band was touring the United States.
Many were the artists who gave words of encouragement to his family and expressed their pain through social networks, however, there is no pain greater than that expressed by his wife, Vicky Cornell, who wrote an emotional farewell letter.
Here we leave:
To my sweet Christopher,
You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love have always shown it.
You always said that I saved you, that you would not be alive but for me. My heart brightened to see you happy, alive and motivated. Excited by life. You did everything you could to give. We had the best time of our lives in the last decade and I am very sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I'm sorry that you were alone, and I know that you were not, my dear Christopher. Your children also know it, so you can rest in peace.
I'm shattered, but I'll go ahead for you and look after our beautiful babies. I will think of you every moment of every day and I will fight for you. You were right when you said we're soul mates. It has been said that the paths that have been crossed will do it again, and I know that you will come to find me, and I will be waiting for you here.
I love you more than anyone has ever loved in the history of love and more than anyone else can.
Forever and always.
You Vicky.
His relatives do not believe that the artist committed suicide intentionally and claim that his hanging was a product of consumer drugs.
