- David Bowie: At 69, and after having fought for 18 against cancer, musician, songwriter David Bowie died on January 10, 2016 in Manhattan, New York. - Leonard Cohen: The Poet and Canadian composer Leonard Cohen, author of the classic song Hallelujah, died on November 7, 2016 in Los Angeles, at 82 years.
