One of the founders of the renowned New York band Beastie Boys, John Berry, died Thursday May 19 because of a frontotemporal dementia who had been suffering for months. The information was given by his father from a hospital hospice in Danvers, Massachusetts, where he was hospitalized.
Along with Mike Diamond, Adam Yauch and Kate Schellenbach, Berry founded the Beastie Boys, where he practiced as a guitarist and singer. Despite being one of the creators, it was only on the first disc of the band and then left to continue with their projects. In addition to collaborating in the founding of the Beastie Boys, Berry was also part of bands like Even Worse, Big Fat Love, Highway Stars and Bourbon Deluxe.
From the official account of the band Luscious Jackson wrote. "Heartbroken to hear the news of the death of John Berry, the original guitarist and founding member of the Beastie Boys He was a good friend and popular leader and if it were not for him , they would Beasties, or Luscious Jackson, and Grand Royal and God knows what else. John brought us all crazy in his wooden house in the UWS ... Rest in peace friend ... "they said.
