Almost 30 years after Barcelona with Freddy and Montserrat

The next year, 2017, will be held 30 years after the famous song "Barcelona", composed by Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran. I stumbled on this topic wandering around one of these nights by Facebook, and that made me relive emotions were such that worth commenting on this great topic.

First, the fact that rock and operatic bel canto style or, or, also, lyrical join. Montserrat Caballe, Catalan soprano (by the way, today in trouble for alleged tax evasion), owns one of the most versatile voices that has given the world of opera.

Moreover, the great Freddie Mercury, what human being is not able to love an artist as well? A rough and delicate at once voice, impressive musicality and artistic sense of such magnitude that even today, the younger generation of music lovers have no choice but to admire his talent, not only as part of Queen until their solo projects.

But "Barcelona" is the exact combination of two seemingly disparate styles. However, able to combine the best of those genres: the raspy voice of Mercury, supports the sweetness of the soprano, and although the letter is not really anything special from the poetic point of view, there is no doubt that the words allow both voices slide by melodic plot.

According to data flowing through there in the year 1987, the song is ranked eighth in the UK, and in 1992 was chosen as the anthem of the Olympic Games held precisely in Barcelona. No doubt this is a classic musical. Sublime and wonderful.
