Abel Carlevaro, teacher, composer and performer of classical guitar was born in Montevideo on 16 December 1916. However, from now guitarists tune their instruments to pay tribute to those who contributed significantly to the development of guitar technique.
We had the opportunity to receive their lessons in Caracas, master classes by sponsoring various entities at the time, 1987.
She filled her infinite patience Carlevaro, who had to listen to everything and everyone, styles and above all proposals then proved totally avant-garde.
Among the group were the great Aquiles Báez, who presented a piece -I remember- so shocking title, but music so rich that Carlevaro had no other choice but to hear: "What does that cockroach on the wall?" do not. It is not a rhetorical question, it was one of the pieces that showed Báez; and all fascinated (could not be otherwise) hear both the author's interpretation, as explanations of Carlevaro.
Another schoolmate was Claudio Lazcano del Castillo, who at the time was beginning to show their first guitars, and precisely took one of theirs so that the teacher Carlevaro gave him his own opinion.
With all without exception Carlevaro had words of encouragement, patience, fair and wise advice, and above all, love for good sound on guitar, by the roundness and warmth in interpretation.
We'll see, throughout this year, several tributes in his honor. He deserves this great master.
