I do hits like Love me and She Loves You would have been composed and recorded with an acoustic guitar was auctioned currently more than 2.4 million. The model Gibson J-160E instrument was stolen during a concert by The Beatles at Christmas 1963 at the Finsbury Park in London.

The guitar would have been a favorite of John Lennon and currently owned by John McCaw, an amateur musician from the city of San Diego that, without knowing the history, bought the instrument in the late sixties at a cost of 275 dollars then. More than fifty years later, in a story about the English band, McCaw noted similarities between his Gibson and photographed in an article showing the private collection of another member Beatle George Harrison. Both artists have bought two guitars of the same model in 1962 in Liverpool, which constitutes a guarantee that the instrument was once in the hands of Lennon.

The buyer of "Beatle guitar more important to have reached an auction", as was promoted, asked that his identity kept anonymous. "John wanted so much this guitar that took her home and her composed songs with Paul McCartney," he said from the house Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, who sponsored the event.

This figure constitutes one of the highest prices paid for a musical instrument from the world of rock and roll. The funds raised will be allocated to the Spirit Foundation, a charity created by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
