Brooklyn-based 2 Story Cabin are on fire with their latest release "Always Better." The music is just as satisfying as the way they chose to visually represent this number. *SPOILER ALERT* They went all the way back to Italy to film their video - we just know you're going to love it! Read on to find out about their inspiration, musical journeys thus far and what is yet to come.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration? Why?
We both have very different musical backgrounds. Tempesta grew up listening to punk rock music as well as 90s female songwriters. mmmatic's interests spanned from noise/rock to indie pop and rap acts.
What is your favorite part of being a musician?
Tempesta: I really love expressing my feelings through writing songs. It's a great outlet for me, almost therapeutic!
mmmatic: Being able to wear tank tops and glitter while playing on stage!
When it comes to inspiration, do you wait for it to strike or do you treat your creative process like standard 9-5 meaning you show up regardless if inspiration is present?
Writing the lyrics for our songs comes from pure inspiration, whenever I see or experience something I feel the need to write it. The rest, putting the lyrics into music and the arrangement is more a 9-5 job (or rather, a 11pm-3am job :))
What has been your most memorable experience (live performance, collaboration, etc) as a musician thus far? What made it the most memorable for you?
It was definitely our very first concert in Italy, at Le Mura, on December 2017. We were so nervous at the beginning, but in the end so many people came to see us and there was a line outside to get in and it was really exciting to play for the first time in front of all of our friends! The next day the adrenaline rush was still so strong that we had to leave and we spent 3 days in our house at the beach. It was almost a spiritual moment.
What is your earliest musical memory?
Tempesta: I remember vividly as a child my dad boosting bossanova in our living room really early on Sunday mornings. I hated that he played music so early, but I really loved the music.
mmmatic: I remember those 10 hour long road trips in my parents' car (one time we traveled from Rome to London), listening to The Beatles and Lucio Battisti.
What do you want people to know about your latest release?
We’d love them to watch the music video for 'Always Better', Tempesta traveled all the way to Italy for 5 days to shot it and its our biggest production so far (we self produce all our music and videos!).
What are your plans for the future?
We will release a new single called “Odd Future” in the next months, as well as two acoustic versions of our two last singles. Then we will finally start to arrange the songs for our debut LP. We already have 15 new songs that we are very excited to share!!
